Use AI on the work you already actually do.
You do not need a moonshot use case to get leverage. Start with the repetitive work that already steals your time and attention.
Think in workflow slices.
The fastest way to get AI leverage is not replacing an entire role. It is replacing one narrow slice of work inside the role. Good early slices include meeting prep, summarization, first-draft writing, research notes, internal FAQs, categorization, and repetitive formatting.
Three filters for a strong first use case
- Frequency: happens often enough to matter.
- Tolerance: errors are recoverable and visible.
- Structure: you can define inputs and a useful output shape.
Map the loop, not just the task.
If you want lasting value, define the loop around the work:
- What triggers the work?
- What context does AI need?
- What output is useful?
- Who checks it?
- Where does it go next?
That is the difference between “AI helped once” and “AI now supports this part of our operating system.”
Try it now
Pick one workflow you repeat every week. Draw it in five steps. Circle the parts that are language-heavy, repetitive, or formatting-heavy. Those are your first AI insertion points.
